OxygenOS 16 Arrives: OnePlus Brings AI-Powered Features, Lock Screen Widgets, and Fluid Animations to OnePlus 13 Series

OnePlus has officially started rolling out the OxygenOS 16 update, based on Android 16, for the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13s smartphones. The new update brings a redesigned interface, smoother animations, AI-powered upgrades, and more ways to customise your phone’s look and feel.

What’s New in OxygenOS 16

The latest version of OxygenOS focuses on improving performance, visual fluidity, and personalisation while adding several new AI features that enhance daily use. Here’s a look at the most notable upgrades.

1) Fluid Animations with Parallel Processing 2.0

OnePlus has introduced Parallel Processing 2.0, a new animation engine that allows system animations to begin before the previous action finishes. This creates a more natural and seamless experience when navigating between apps, swiping through menus, or using gestures. Everything feels smoother — from multitasking to unlocking the phone.

2) Resizable Icons and Better Tablet Optimization

OxygenOS 16 adds a new Resizable Icons feature, letting users adjust the size of app icons or folders directly from the home screen. The company has also optimised the UI for tablets, enabling multitasking improvements such as adding up to five apps in Open Canvas, three in split-screen, and two in floating windows — a big boost for productivity.

3) Lock Screen Widgets, New Wallpapers, and Themes

The update also debuts Flux Theme 2.0, bringing more depth and motion to your phone with video wallpapers and Motion Photos that react to touch. There’s a new full-screen Always-on Display (AOD) mode that shows wallpapers and important information even when the screen is off.

OnePlus has finally addressed a long-requested feature — Lock Screen Widgets. Users can now add widgets directly to the lock screen, displayed either horizontally or vertically depending on the theme in use.

4) Fluid Cloud Notifications and Visual Redesign

The Fluid Cloud feature adds real-time updates from apps such as food delivery services, sports apps, and Spotify directly on the lock screen. This means you can check your order progress or live match scores without unlocking your phone.

OnePlus has also refreshed the overall design of OxygenOS 16 with a translucent interface, rounded corners, and Gaussian blur effects across the UI — visible in the App Drawer, Home Screen, and Quick Settings. Even stock apps like Calculator and Clock have been redesigned with cleaner visuals and new functions.

5) Plus Mind – AI Gets Smarter

The standout AI upgrade in OxygenOS 16 is Plus Mind, first seen in the OnePlus 13S. Initially a screenshot tool, Plus Mind now works as a virtual memory palace, allowing users to save and organise information in creative ways.

With the new update, users can share images, record voice memos (up to one minute long) by pressing and holding the Plus Key, and even capture extended screenshots for saving entire articles or webpages. This feature turns Plus Mind into a digital scrapbook for notes, visuals, and ideas.

How to Download OxygenOS 16

If you own a OnePlus 13 or OnePlus 13s, here’s how you can update:

  1. Open Settings > Software Update.
  2. Tap on Download and Install when OxygenOS 16 appears.
  3. Ensure your phone has at least 30% battery and enough free storage before installation.

The update is rolling out in phases, so it might take a few days to reach all devices.
