You will soon see a major change in ChatGPT, and this update is all about group chat. You mostly used ChatGPT alone, but after this new feature, you will be able to talk, share ideas, and plan things with your friends or team in one place. The update is still in development, but the early information already looks very useful and simple for everyday users.
What new option will you see?
In this update, you will get a button called “Start a group chat”. By tapping it, you can create a link and share it with anyone you want. Anyone who joins using that link will also see old messages, so they can follow the full conversation easily. This makes group chat with ChatGPT work like a normal chat window, but with smarter tools inside. You can react to messages, reply directly, upload files, and even send images. Everything looks clean and simple, just like regular messaging apps you already use.

How the feature will work inside ChatGPT
Inside the group, you can tag ChatGPT whenever you need help. The AI will answer only when someone calls it, so the chat will feel natural. Along with this, you will get small controls to manage how active ChatGPT should be. This makes group chat with ChatGPT more flexible and smooth for group projects, office discussions, or study planning. Your personal chats and group chats will stay separate, keeping privacy fully under your control. For teamwork, this update makes things easier because you can talk and get AI assistance at the same time.
What we still don’t know
Right now, there is no confirmed date for the rollout. The feature is still under testing, and many details are not final. We don’t know how many people can join one group or if admin controls will be added. Even then, the idea of group chat with ChatGPT already looks exciting. It will bring a more social and collaborative feel to ChatGPT. After the launch, you will be able to plan, discuss, and share everything easily, all inside one group chat with ChatGPT.
