WhatsApp Launches on Apple Watch: WhatsApp is kicking off November with a bang! The world’s most popular messaging app is finally making its way to the Apple Watch, marking a huge step forward for smartwatch users. The new companion app lets you read and reply to messages directly from your wrist, making it easier than ever to stay connected on the go. But that’s not all — this week’s WhatsApp beta updates are packed with exciting features designed to make your chats smarter, more personal, and more private.

WhatsApp Finally Arrives on Apple Watch

WhatsApp’s brand-new Apple Watch app is now available for beta testers through TestFlight. This is the company’s first proper smartwatch experience for iPhone users, similar to what Android users have had through Wear OS.

The app isn’t fully standalone yet — your iPhone still needs to stay connected — but it’s a major leap toward smartwatch independence. You can browse recent chats, view pinned and disappearing messages, and even reply using voice dictation or emoji reactions. Notifications are also much smarter, allowing you to reply instantly without unlocking your iPhone.

The app syncs automatically with your iPhone, and you’ll see a handy status indicator showing whether the two are connected. It’s a smoother, faster experience than before and a sign that WhatsApp is serious about wearables. While still in beta, it sets the foundation for more features in upcoming updates.

WhatsApp to Let Users Add Custom Cover Photos

Love customizing your profiles? WhatsApp is testing a feature that lets you add a cover photo to your personal profile — just like business accounts have. Think of it as your own banner image, sitting right at the top of your profile. You can use it to show off your mood, style, or interests — similar to what you see on Facebook or LinkedIn.

You’ll be able to upload a picture directly from your phone, and WhatsApp will soon introduce privacy controls to decide who can see your cover photo — “Everyone,” “My Contacts,” or “Nobody.” It’s all about giving users more creative freedom while keeping privacy intact.

Smarter Sticker Tools for iPhone Users

In the latest iOS 25.31.75 update, WhatsApp is introducing smarter sticker management. Now you can create and save stickers directly to your collection without having to send them first. A new button beside “Send” lets you instantly add stickers to an existing pack or make a new one.

This is perfect for anyone who loves using stickers to express themselves. You can now build your own sticker library faster and more easily than ever before — no unnecessary steps, no clutter.

Username-Based Calling: A More Private Way to Connect

Privacy has always been a big deal for WhatsApp, and soon, you’ll be able to call people without revealing your phone number. The new username-based calling feature lets users connect using unique usernames instead of contact numbers.

You’ll be able to search for someone’s username in the Calls tab and reach them instantly. All calls will still be end-to-end encrypted, keeping them completely private. Plus, a special username key system will control who can contact you — great news for users who want fewer spam calls or for creators who need to connect without sharing personal details.

WhatsApp Prepares for Cross-App Messaging in Europe

In compliance with the EU’s Digital Markets Act, WhatsApp is developing interoperability features that will let users chat with people on other messaging platforms — all without leaving the app. That means you’ll be able to send messages, photos, voice notes, and even documents to users on third-party apps that meet WhatsApp’s encryption standards.

To keep things secure, WhatsApp recommends that third-party platforms use the Signal Protocol for encryption. The feature will start rolling out in Europe and will also include cross-platform group chats, allowing people from different apps to talk in one place. New privacy settings will give you control over who can add you to these groups, helping avoid spam and unwanted invites.

Instagram-Like Reaction Stickers for Status Updates

If you love Instagram Stories, this one’s for you! WhatsApp is testing interactive reaction stickers for status updates. You’ll be able to place emoji stickers directly on photos or videos so that friends can tap them to react instantly.

These reactions are private — only the person who posted the status will see who reacted and which emoji was used. They’ll also appear in a neat activity log with real-time notifications. It’s a fun new way to engage with your contacts and make status updates feel more alive.

Channel Admins Can Now Invite Contacts More Easily

WhatsApp is also testing a small but handy update for Channel admins. Soon, admins will be able to invite their contacts to follow a channel directly from the channel info screen. The invite will show up as a one-tap follow message, making it easier to grow audiences organically and share updates faster.

Wrapping Up

From smartwatch support to cross-platform chats and better privacy tools, WhatsApp is clearly in the middle of a major transformation. The Apple Watch app is just the beginning — it’s setting the stage for a more flexible and connected messaging experience across devices.

With every weekly beta update, WhatsApp is becoming smarter, more personalized, and more private — and the best part? These updates show that the app isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
