Snapchat to Add Perplexity AI for Smarter Chats: Snapchat is preparing to bring a major artificial intelligence upgrade to its platform, thanks to a new partnership with Perplexity — the fast-growing AI search and answer engine. The companies announced the collaboration on Wednesday, confirming that Perplexity’s chatbot will soon be integrated directly into Snapchat, giving users a powerful new way to ask questions, learn new things, and explore topics without leaving the app.

This deal isn’t just about adding another AI feature. It represents a major push by Snap to strengthen the app’s discovery and learning experience, while giving Perplexity access to Snapchat’s massive global audience.

Perplexity AI Is Coming to Snapchat’s Chat Interface

In a newsroom announcement, Snap revealed that Perplexity’s AI-powered answer engine will become part of the Snapchat experience. It will sit alongside My AI — Snapchat’s existing GPT-based chatbot — but serve a different purpose. While My AI focuses on casual conversation, fun interactions, and playful chat responses, Perplexity is designed to give direct, factual, and search-style answers to real questions.

This means Snapchat users will soon be able to:

  • Ask research questions
  • Explore historical and trending topics
  • Learn about science, culture, technology, and more
  • Get instant answers without opening Google or another app

Snap highlighted that Perplexity will be available to its 943 million monthly active users, making this one of the largest AI distribution partnerships so far.

Snap’s Young User Base Could Boost Perplexity’s Reach

Snapchat pointed out a key advantage of this partnership: its audience. More than 75% of Snapchat’s users are between ages 13 and 34, spread across 25+ countries. This demographic is tech-savvy, social, curious, and highly active online — which aligns perfectly with Perplexity’s goal of becoming the go-to app for answering real questions quickly.

Snap believes integrating Perplexity could help:

  • Students researching school topics
  • Gen-Z users curious about trending news, creators, events, and pop culture
  • Everyday users wanting fast answers without searching the web manually

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel described the partnership as a step toward making AI more:

“Personal, social, and fun — woven into friendships, Snaps, and conversations.”

He also suggested Snapchat plans to work with more AI partners over time.

Perplexity Gains Huge Reach — But It’s Paying Big

This deal isn’t one-sided. Perplexity will pay Snap $400 million (roughly ₹3,547 crore) over one year in a mix of cash and equity. This payment will begin once the global feature rollout starts. In return, Perplexity gains:

  • Access to Snapchat’s massive global user base
  • Visibility among younger audiences who are shaping tech adoption trends
  • The chance to position itself as an everyday utility tool, not just an AI niche product

Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas emphasized that the company’s mission is to support curiosity:

“Millions of people connect and discover the world through Snapchat. By bringing Perplexity to Snapchat, we’re able to serve that curiosity directly where it occurs.”

Launch Timeline: Not Immediate

Although the announcement is big, Snapchat isn’t rolling out the feature right away. The companies are still preparing the integration, and the launch is expected in early 2026. Snap will also start recording revenue from the partnership around the same time.

Some of the delay is likely due to:

  • AI safety and privacy testing
  • Ensuring age-appropriate responses
  • Integrating the chatbot smoothly into Snapchat’s interface

This cautious rollout makes sense — Snapchat’s young audience means extra moderation and safeguards are required.
