Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic Review: A Smartwatch That Balances Style, Substance, and Strategy

Posted on November 5, 2025November 5, 2025 By Kumar Sumit No Comments on Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic Review: A Smartwatch That Balances Style, Substance, and Strategy

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic isn’t a radical reinvention, but it’s different enough to turn heads. With its new “cushion design” — somewhere between a circle and a square — the watch blends classic sophistication with a modern edge. But once you get past its looks, it’s what the Watch 8 does that matters.

Design: Familiar Yet Fresh

Samsung’s new squircle-like design divides opinions — some call it bold, others bulky. The black stainless-steel model feels premium and durable, though a plastic accent strip along the right side slightly undermines its luxury feel. At 63.5g, it has the heft of a traditional chronograph, which some will love and others may find heavy.

Build quality is excellent — the sapphire crystal display survived weeks of bumps, workouts, and even swims without a scratch. The rotating bezel makes a welcome return, offering satisfying tactile feedback, even if its novelty fades after daily use. It’s more about character than convenience.

Samsung also introduces a Dynamic Lug system for watchbands, replacing traditional pins. It’s quick and secure, but older bands won’t fit — meaning existing users will need to reinvest.

Software and Performance

Running on Wear OS 6, the Watch 8 delivers the smoothest smartwatch experience yet. Notifications are now grouped by app, tiles support multiple widgets, and customization is easier than ever. The new 3nm Exynos W1000 chip keeps performance fast and fluid, with instant app launches and minimal lag.

Google’s Gemini assistant replaces Assistant and finally makes voice control genuinely useful — capable of starting workouts, setting reminders, or controlling smart devices hands-free.

However, Samsung’s ecosystem lock-in remains frustrating. Features like ECG, blood pressure, and sleep apnea detection are exclusive to Galaxy phones, and setup requires multiple Samsung apps, unlike Apple’s streamlined approach.

Fitness and Health Tracking

The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic shines in fitness tracking. Step counts, heart rate, and sleep data were consistently accurate, and dual-band GPS provided precise tracking even in dense urban environments.

Samsung’s experimental health tools — like Antioxidant Index and Vascular Load — are intriguing but lack clear explanations. Features such as the AI Running Coach work well, offering real-time pace feedback for structured training.

Battery Life and Charging

Samsung claims 30 to 40 hours of battery life depending on settings, and real-world use matches that. It easily lasts over a day with all features enabled, though still lags behind multi-day options from Garmin or OnePlus. Full charging takes around 90 minutes, and the wall adapter isn’t included.

Verdict: Premium, Polished, but Not Perfect

At ₹49,990, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is one of the most refined Android smartwatches available. It offers premium design, reliable tracking, strong performance, and a tactile, characterful interface.

If you’re deep in Samsung’s ecosystem, it’s a near-perfect fit. For other Android users, it’s still an excellent smartwatch — though missing features due to brand restrictions is a clear downside.

The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic proves that refinement, not reinvention, can still feel fresh — even in a crowded smartwatch market.
