Canva Unveils AI Model: Canva has announced a major expansion of its platform, unveiling new design tools, a refreshed video editor, and a full-fledged marketing suite called Canva Grow. The update, part of the company’s ongoing World Tour campaign, represents one of the biggest overhauls to Canva’s Visual Suite to date. The Sydney-based company also revealed its first native AI foundation model and a new Ask Canva assistant to help users create designs more easily.

Canva’s New Creative Operating System
In a press release, Canva introduced its new set of features as a “Creative Operating System,” combining the Visual Suite, Canva AI, and new platform-wide tools. The company shared that it now has 260 million monthly active users, with $3.5 billion (around Rs. 31,000 crore) in annualised revenue and a valuation of $42 billion (approximately Rs. 3.7 lakh crore).
At the heart of this update is Canva’s first-ever Design Foundation Model, a large language model (LLM) built specifically for design understanding. According to the company, this AI model powers all Canva AI features, enabling it to generate fully editable visuals in seconds. It remains unclear whether Canva plans to phase out third-party AI integrations or continue using them alongside its in-house model.
AI Features Get Smarter and More Integrated
Canva’s AI assistant has been upgraded to function across every design type on the platform. It can now help users create or enhance photos, videos, textures, and even 3D graphics. A new style-matching feature ensures designs automatically stay consistent with brand aesthetics — a useful addition for businesses and marketing teams.
Another highlight is Ask @Canva, a built-in assistant available across the platform. With this, users can ask design-related questions or get help navigating tools directly within the canvas. The AI assistant can handle both creative and technical queries, providing instant guidance without switching tabs.
Video 2.0: Canva’s Revamped Video Editor
Canva’s video editor has received its biggest update yet with Video 2.0. The new editor brings professional-grade tools to the platform, including:
- A multi-layer timeline for text, effects, and audio
- Precision tools to trim, sync, and adjust clips
- A new Magic Video AI feature that automatically adds transitions and effects
Canva has also expanded its video template collection, allowing users to produce polished videos faster without advanced editing skills.
Email Design and Forms Come to Canva
Responding to one of the platform’s most-requested features, Canva has introduced a new Email Design format. Users can now design, customise, and export beautiful emails directly from Canva — all without coding. The finished emails can be exported as HTML files and sent through any email marketing service.
Canva has also added Forms, letting users design interactive forms for feedback, RSVPs, or data collection. These can be styled with the same creative flexibility as other Canva projects, ensuring they remain on-brand. Additionally, the new Canva Code tool integrates with Canva Sheet, allowing creators to build interactive websites and apps that can store and use real data.
Canva Grow: A Complete Marketing Platform
Expanding beyond design tools, Canva introduced Canva Grow, an end-to-end marketing platform designed for campaign management. Powered by “brand-aware AI,” it helps businesses create, publish, and monitor marketing campaigns from a single interface. Canva Grow learns from campaign performance data to improve future recommendations and automate refinements.
“Marketing teams can now design and launch ads across platforms like Meta, track insights as they happen, and instantly refine content based on performance metrics,” Canva said.
With these updates, Canva continues to blur the lines between design, AI, and productivity. By combining smart automation with intuitive tools, the company is positioning itself as a one-stop platform for both individual creators and large teams. From AI-generated visuals to integrated marketing analytics, Canva’s latest upgrade signals its growing ambition to become the creative hub for the modern digital world.
