What is Google Fitbit Air

The Google Fitbit Air is a screenless fitness tracker. It has no display. Instead of showing information on your wrist, it collects data all day and sends it to the Google Health app on your phone. The idea is simple — wear it all the time without getting distracted by notifications or a screen. When you want to check your health data, open the app on your phone. The tracker itself weighs just 5.2 grams. With the band, the total weight is 12 grams. It is one of the lightest wearables available right now.

Design and Build

The Google Fitbit Air uses a pill-shaped pebble design made of plastic. The pebble pops out from below the band and can be swapped into different band styles. Three band options are available at launch. The Performance Loop Band comes in the box. It is made from at least 35% recycled materials, is micro-adjustable, and has a stainless-steel buckle. It is available in Obsidian, Fog, Lavender, and Berry colors.

The Active Band is sold separately at $34.99. It is sweatproof and wetproof silicone with a ribbed design for high-intensity workouts. The Elevated Modern Band is also sold separately at $49.99. It is made of polyurethane with a stainless-steel buckle and is available in Moonstone, Obsidian, and Porcelain. It gives the tracker a bracelet-like look for everyday wear.

A Stephen Curry Special Edition is also available at $129.99. The band comes in rye brown with game-day orange accents. It has a water-resistant coating and an inner texture designed to increase airflow during workouts.

Health and Fitness Tracking

The Google Fitbit Air tracks a wide range of health metrics. It has an optical heart rate sensor for 24/7 heart rate monitoring. Red and infrared sensors track SpO2, which is the level of oxygen in your blood. Other metrics tracked include heart rate variability, breathing rate, skin temperature variation, resting heart rate, steps, distance, calories burned, and active zone minutes.

The device also tracks your heart rhythm while you are still or sleeping and sends alerts if it detects signs of atrial fibrillation, also known as AFib. Sleep tracking covers sleep stages and duration. Workout detection is automatic. The tracker detects when you start exercising and logs it on its own. You can also start a workout manually from the Google Health app or log it after the fact.

Battery Life and Charging

Battery life is up to seven days on a full charge. Quick charging gives you a full day of use in just 5 minutes. A full charge from 0 to 100% takes 90 minutes. The charger is pill-shaped, magnetic, and bidirectional. It uses USB-C on the other end. A red status light and vibration on the pebble alert you when the battery is low.

Google Health App

The Google Fitbit Air works with the new Google Health app. This is an update to the existing Fitbit app. Existing Fitbit users will see the app change to Google Health on May 19, 2026 without needing to download a new app. All accounts and data carry over automatically.

The app shows your daily health data, sleep scores, readiness scores, and cardio load. With a Google Health Premium subscription, you also get personalized health coaching built with Gemini. The app has a photo-to-workout feature that lets you point your phone camera at a gym whiteboard or treadmill screen, and it logs the workout automatically. A three-month trial of Google Health Premium comes free with every Fitbit Air. After the trial, the subscription costs $9.99 per month.

The Google Fitbit Air also works alongside the Pixel Watch. If you wear both, Google Health automatically manages which device is tracking what without any manual switching needed.

Water Resistance

The Google Fitbit Air is water resistant up to 50 meters. You can wear it while swimming, showering, or in heavy rain without any issues.

Connectivity
