WhatsApp has released a new beta update for Android — version 2.25.30.4. In this update, a new feature called “Notifications for Status Updates” has started rolling out to some users.

What’s New in This Update
With this feature, you will now get a notification when any of your selected contacts post a new Status update. Earlier, you had to open the Status tab to see what’s new, but now WhatsApp can alert you automatically.
How This Update Works
- When one of your contacts uploads a new Status, WhatsApp will send you a small notification on your phone.
- You can turn on notifications for a specific person by opening their Status, tapping the three dots, and selecting “Get notifications.”
- If you no longer want alerts for that person, you can turn them off from the same menu.
- The person will not know that you have turned on notifications for their Status.
Why This Feature Is Useful
- You won’t miss important updates from your close friends or family.
- It helps you focus only on the Status updates you care about.
- You don’t need to keep checking the Status tab again and again.
- The notification may also show a small preview of the Status, so you can quickly see what it’s about.
Availability
This feature is currently available only for users who have joined the WhatsApp Beta Program on Android.
If you don’t see it yet, don’t worry — WhatsApp is releasing it slowly, and it will soon reach more users in future updates.
Final Thoughts
The new Status Update Notification feature makes WhatsApp more personal and convenient.
Instead of seeing every update, you can now stay informed only about the people you truly care about.
If you are a beta user, check your app version — you might already have access to this feature!
