WhatsApp’s long-awaited “mention all” feature is finally here

WhatsApp’s long-awaited “mention all” feature is finally here — and it’s set to make group chats much easier to manage.

Posted on October 23, 2025October 24, 2025 By Kumar Sumit 2 Comments on WhatsApp’s long-awaited “mention all” feature is finally here — and it’s set to make group chats much easier to manage.

The popular messaging app is reportedly rolling out this new feature for select beta testers on Android, allowing users to notify everyone in a group at once with a single tap. The update, available via the Google Play Store beta programme, introduces a new preset “@all” tag in the mention menu. Once used, this tag alerts all group members simultaneously — ensuring that no one misses important messages, even if their notifications are turned off.

WhatsApp to Let You Tag Everyone in a Group Chat

According to WABetaInfo, a well-known feature tracker, the new “mention everyone” feature is now available for some beta testers through WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.31.9. The rollout is gradual, and more users are expected to get it in the coming weeks.

With the @all command, users can quickly alert every member in a group instead of manually tagging each one. This feature is especially handy for sharing urgent updates, announcements, or reminders in busy groups where messages often get buried under constant chatter.

How the @All Feature Works

WhatsApp is adding some smart rules to keep things organized.

  • In small groups, everyone can use the @all tag.
  • In large groups (currently defined as having more than 32 members), only admins can use it to avoid spam and notification overload.
The company may tweak this group-size limit in future updates as it refines the feature.

This move could save users plenty of time while keeping communication clear and consistent — especially in professional or community groups where quick coordination is key.

More Control Over Notifications

WhatsApp is also introducing a new option to mute @all mentions, giving users more control over their notifications. Even if someone uses @all in a group chat, members can choose whether they want to receive that alert. The setting appears in the group info > notification settings, where users can easily turn @all notifications on or off.

This flexibility ensures that important messages can still stand out — without turning group chats into notification nightmares.

With these updates, WhatsApp continues to refine its group chat experience, making it more efficient and user-friendly. And for those juggling multiple groups every day, the “@all” mention might just be the small but powerful tool they’ve been waiting for.
